RETIRING STAMP SET AVAILABILITY

Stampin' Up! Announcement re: Retiring stamp set availability

For the last several years, retired list accessories have been available only while supplies last, and we have manufactured retiring stamps to meet demand. This year, due to shortages in some of the stamp set components, we decided that some retiring stamp sets would be available only while supplies last as well. Unfortunately, we neglected to clearly communicate that to you. To resolve this, we will go ahead and offer all retiring stamp sets through June 3 as we have in previous years, but because of the component shortages, some retiring stamp sets will go on backorder. We will try to minimize the backorders as much as possible.

If you have tried to order a retiring stamp set recently and were unable to do so, please place your order again or call Demonstrator Support for help.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.

Retired Sunday.. Flowers and Butterflies..

When I sat down a few weeks ago to start working on my upcoming events calendar I decided that this time I'd also add a few personal challenges to the pages as well - my idea being that if I wrote it down I'd somehow need to be accountable for the commitment I'd made to myself and it would be done.

As with most things, these "big ideas" don't always take on the first pass-thru, but at the very least they serve as a reminder of my goals and plans and something to move towards.

I've been spending a lot of extra time down in the craftroom lately, sorting tools and toys,  labelling our shiny new catalogs and re-arranging the crafting space.  I was tickled pink when earlier this month I was able to add another table to the space - a clear indication that progress is being made!

Another Challenge I've made to myself is to make use of the myriad of toys and tools that have been bought and not yet played with -- or not fully appreciated *enough*.   That's not to say that I haven't played with anything --  but in orders put in, around the time we were jetting back and forth to BC, much of the product stayed in the boxes for way too long and when it came out there was SO MUCH that the idea of playing with any of it because somewhat overwhelming.   have you ever been there?

Sometimes I feel like I *live* there --  but I'm working on that.

I decided that I'd start working through some of my retired paper, and play with some of my retired Stamp sets, and soon-to-be retiring stamp sets.  Deeming this to be win win since I'll build up my stash of cards as well as clearing out a raft of supplies that will make room for the new In-Colors, and Color Changes..   When I set out my plan I envisioned a relaxing Sunday int he Craftroom, and when I started thinking about using up the retired papers and such I dubbed it Retired Sunday.   Now I know that I won't always make it down there on a Sunday but on those week's when I can't I'll try to get down there before hand so I can still share a project in my Sunday post.

On Friday afternoon my daughter and I decided to stamp candles.  Her boyfriend's mom was celebrating a birthday and I wanted to show her what a quick and easy "Wow" gift this was.  I couldn't decide what stamp set to use but then finally decided on the retired "Fifth Avenue Floral".

Most would never think of stamping on a candle, but it really is SO very easy, and makes a very nice "Wow" gift.   I love giving a gift you made yourself!

I can laugh about it now, but this is a stamp set I almost didn't buy.  At the time I figured I already had "enough" flower stamps, and I didn't really want or need it.   But then our coordinating embossing folder came out and I wished I'd gotten it.  Thankfully a friend was selling her's and I was able to make it mine.  It's been a favorite ever since!

This retired Sunday I still had the stamp set on my desk I  picked up some retired card stock from my stash and cut the card bases and background pieces before stamping.  At that point I did the tag, and sponged around it to tie the colors together - but it still needed *something*..   so I added the butterflies..

I had so much fun making the butterflies that I made a raft more..

Making punched and die cut embellishments is a fabulous way to use up scrap pieces and those last few bling pieces from a sheet that you weren't sure how to use up.  I have a container full of pre-cut tags and punchies in a variety of colors so that I just have to fish out the one I need and we're good to go - it can sure save a lot of time!

Have you reserved your spot at our Customer Appreciation Event this coming weekend?  Don't delay !  Time is running out!

I Challenge You..... to Playtime!

Are you in a Slump?

It's okay,  you can admit it -- we've all be there -- in fact I sometimes joke that I live there..   thankfully it never lasts for *too* long.

As many of you know, this last year has been riddled with a boatload of medical drama across my family,  followed by the passing of my Dad which aside from the obvious added a whole new level of drama to my world.  I am fortunate that I have a pretty fabulous support system in my hubby, and the family that he happily shares with me - including his parents who are more like best friends that in-laws - we are truly blessed.  I do not know where we'd be without them.  I hope we don't have to find out for a long LONG time!

When things start going haywire it's not uncommon that the things we love to do get pushed aside, and sometimes forgotten altogether.  As a demonstrator, we often fall into a habit of preparing for classes, and upcoming events but forgetting to take time to just sit down and P L A Y!

I sometimes find myself overwhelmed in my craft space.  I look at all of the wonderful new toys, and tools that I have brought in with my Club orders, pre-orders, and supply orders --so many things I haven't even breathed on yet - let alone gotten all inky..    I get to feeling like a waste of a craft room..

I promised myself several weeks ago that I was going to work on making cards and dig back into my much neglected (almost abandoned) scrapbook, and CREATE.

I challenged myself to dig into my Retired paper stash, and start getting it made up into cards and favors so that I can make room for the beautiful new colors that join us from the new catalog.  I cannot wait to show those to you ~ some wonderful old favorites are returning, and the new in colors are fabulous!

I think that someone out there heard my plotting, because this past week on our Team group, one of the ladies posted a challenge for our group.  (Thanks to Crystal for running this one - it was just what the "doctor" ordered!)

We were given the week to come up with a card and post.  To be honest, I was really excited about this challenge but then in the hustle and bustle of a crazy-busy week I forgot about it.   I was puttering away in the craft room in the midst of what I was calling my "Retired Sunday" when I remembered and thankfully inspiration struck quickly.  Here's what I came up with:

I decided to play with my two newest butterfly punches (you know how I LOVE butterflies!)  and layer them.  I made use of some retired paper that I bought when I was in Vancouver looking for a way to be crafty when I hadn't brought anything with me.  Turns out much of the paper I bought was labelled incorrectly and quite a bit wasn't retired at all - BONUS!   In any case,  I also decided to do a no-stamping card this time, mostly because I was having fun making butterflies and wanted to use them on a card..   as you can see there were many more of them.. :)

I cannot wait to see what this week's challenge will be.  I thought that I'd post the challenge here for my readers and customers, so we could play together and encourage each other to take some time each week to CREATE!

Did this challenge inspire you?  If you make something with this week's challenge photo,  please share a link to your blog post, or e-mail a photo to iscrapnstamp@gmail.com.  I'd love to see it!

Team Challenges are just one of the perks of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator - I just love the chance to share ideas and inspiration with our team, and with my own down-line.  Thinking about taking the plunge?  Ask me for more info!  The get more special on til the end of the month gets you an additional $40 in FREE products when you buy before May 30th!  If you're thinking about it, get in touch ~ I'd be happy to set up a time for you to come and take a look at the products and see what you'd be getting into first hand.

This week I challenge YOU!  To dig out and dust off those toys that may be hiding in the back of your craft cupboard that you haven't used for a while - perhaps a stamp set or tool that you bought but haven't even unwrapped yet ~ now's your chance!  Choose something that you haven't used in a while and make something..   Share your creations ~ Let us inspire each other!

Happy Monday everybody!   Happy Memorial Day to our US Friends and Family!
