Were you reading my Facebook page yesterday?  If you were, then you may have noticed that there's a very special anniversary happening this weekend, tomorrow in fact ~ March 30th is the 2 year anniversary of the date that I re-joined Stampin' Up.  


It actually sounds funny to me to say it's been 2 years like that's a long time,  when really I've been at this hobby for what seems like almost forever..  then again,  I was an active Stamper's Club member for 3 years before I bought my first kit, and at that time I only shared it with a few friends and family members in my Crafting circle. I don't think I even promoted myself as a demonstrator all that much.  


In 2008, I'd found myself in hospital for 11 months straight ~ after complications and a stay in ICU,  I now had nerve damage down my whole left side.  I spent many months completely bed-ridden, and struggled daily because everything I could think of to do required the use of BOTH hands.  

Even once I was finally standing and taking a few steps, it was a long time before I could do stairs, and though I'd put my demo status on hold, it lapsed during my convalescence and to be honest there were bigger things on my plate to be concerned with. 

So anyhow.. fast forward to Sale-a-Bration 2010, and I'm walking, and getting back to living life ~ it was time. My hunny treated me with a brand new "I want it all kit" and with that, I re-joined.  it was also then that I decided to shift from being a hobby demonstrator to hosting workshops and classes. Most of my Crafty Crew lives more than an hour away now, it was time to form a new core group..  and so it began again...

March Madness.. Where did March Go?

I find myself looking out the window this morning at this spectacularly gorgeous morning and wondering how we ended up rounding the end of the month so quickly.  Already March 19th, and so far this month we've had snow, rain, thunder storms, and of course the lovely days that we have enjoyed over the last few days..   Mother nature sounds like she's pitching a hissy fit this month.  

I am encouraged to see the bulbs and perennials starting to poke up through the cold hard ground to make their appearance.  I just love spring!  I've always loved daffodils, and even more so since I learned that they are the symbol of the Cancer Society ~ being one of the lucky ones to have the opportunity to call myself a survivor, the spring arrival of these beauties makes me smile for a variety of reasons these days. More than anything, coming out of the snowy days.. they remind me that better days are coming..    and we can all use that.. 

I got to play with my stamps a little bit over the weekend, did some organizing and updating of my retired sets as well as some actual stamping.  I'm really loving the Sprinkled Expressions Stamp set from the SAB mini.  I combined it with our in-color colors and just had fun with it.   I'm sure that there are many more cards to come with this versatile set :)

I spent much of my time working on simple workshop-style cards, but I can think of many ways to step these up for our veteran scrapnstampers.  For one, I would definitely stamp the sentiment on a punch and pop it up in the middle so that the sentiment pops a bit more.  I thought I'd go ahead and post this as is, if only to show you that we demonstrators don't always get it perfect the first time.  What you see at your clubs, workshops and classes is often the product of several incarnations and attempts at a particular design.   As the saying goes.. Pobody's Nerfect  ;)

As an after thought, I decided to run my stamped card stock through the big shot in an embossing folder, but where normally Iwould have used the Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folder - Houndstooth, Petals-a-Plenty, Snow Burst or Square Lattice,  this time I was thinking of some quilting patterns I'd seen that were very ornate and thought I'd try something a little different, I did one with the Perfect Polka Dots,  and one with the Vintage Wallpaper one.  Finial Press looks great too.  I really like how they turned out.  

Can you tell that my Sizzix embossing folders are among my favorite tools?

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to share this hobby I love! 

With the passing of our beloved Snuggles last weekend, I didn't get the chance to post a few things that I had planned to, so I thought I'd get a jump start this week on my personal "Share the love campaign" today. 

Snuggles would have been 14 this coming June.  His passing leaves a very empty spot in our hearts and halls, but we take heart in knowing that he is not suffering any longer.  When we got him we'd read that Shih Tsus have a typical life expectancy of 8-10 years.  He loved us for almost 14 ~ We are truly blessed to have had him in our lives for so many years but we'd have given anything to hug him for 20 or so more..   sadly, it isn't to be.. 

Yesterday we celebrated our Nena's 4th birthday and that of her brother Teddybear (who lives with Nana and Papa).  When we brought them home, all full of fluff and bounce we just knew life would never be the same again.. :)   

Tomorrow is Jan 21st and it marks my little sister's birthday, her 34th,  the following day we celebrate as our Brockville birthday and this year marks 15 years since I moved to the land of ice and snow and became a full-time wife and stepmom to the 3 little bears he shares with me.  Much like most of my life, not much there went according to plan but we have all survived so that's something right?  

On the 24th our eldest daughter celebrates her birthday and does her bit to make her Dad feel OLD as she leaves the teenager zone and heads for her 20-somethings.    What a week and SO MUCH TO CELEBRATE!!!  :)    

Oh and did I mention that my most favorite time of the year also happens on the 24th?  Some of you will know this already because I've been bouncing and squeaking about it for weeks already.. It's Beginning to feel a lot like SPRING!!

... and not a moment too soon either!

As I sit here this afternoon the rain has finally subsided and the sun is out. I can actually hear the bird chirping through my open window though my hubby would argue that over my typing that there's no way that you could really hear anything. LOL

In the flurry of getting kit orders in, SAB orders finalized, and my pre-mini catalog order in, I completely forgot to sound the buzzers and do the happy dance.  You see, the last day of SAB was a pretty awesome day in my world for a completely different reason.  It was on that day 2 years ago that I re-joined with Stampin' Up! after having lapsed while in hospital a few months before.  It sounds funny to me to say that I'm celebrating my 2nd Birthday with Stampin; Up though since I was a Stamper's Club Member for the better part of 3 years before I joined as a demonstrator, and a hobby demo for several years after that - and as my hubby would day, I have the loot to prove it!  

In celebration of this milestone, I thought I'd treat the next 2 people to comment to some of our new Baja Breeze glitter from the Occasions Mini. (Sorry Canadian Address Only).
